Girl Scout Troop 62092 ended the Girl Scout year by organizing a “Take Action” project to support St. Vincent de Paul and the Amazing Grace food pantry. This service project was the final step in their Journey badge that the girls earned earlier in the spring. Eleven fourth-grade Juniors from Durham and Middlefield ran a supply drive for four weeks to collect food items, toiletries and home goods. The girls posted flyers and set up donation boxes at the Durham and Levi Coe libraries. They also wrote a letter to the editor that ran in the Town Times asking the community to support their project. The girls chose this project after much discussion about the community needs, and they were incredibly passionate about the idea that our community should be a friendly place for everyone, where every person has hope and knows that they have help and support from their neighbors. We are incredibly proud of these girls as they work to make the world a better place and are thankful for the support we received from the staff at St. Vincent’s and those who gave from our community.
